21st Austria weekly - EVN, voestalpine (12/12/2019)

15.12.2019

EVN: Revenue recorded by utility company EVN Group rose by 6.0% year-on-year to Euro 2.2 bn in 2018/19. This increase was supported, among others, by substantial growth in renewable generation and positive impulses from heat supplies. Contrasting factors included declines in thermal electricity generation and in the Networks Segment as well as a changed, but earnings-neutral calculation for the so-called “green electricity mark-up” in Bulgaria. The development of the costs for electricity purchases from third parties and primary energy expenses was influenced by contrary effects. Higher upstream network costs led to an increase, while the above-mentioned change calculation for the “green electricity mark-up” in Bulgaria was responsible for a reduction.  EBIT for the 2018/19 financial year therefore amounted to Euro 403.5 mn (previous year: Euro 392.9 mn). At Euro 302.4 mn for 2018/19, Group net result was 18.8% higher than the previous year. Assuming average conditions in the energy business environment, Group net result for 2019/20 is expected to range from Euro 200 mn to Euro 230 mn. The year-on-year decline is attributable to after-tax positive valuation effects of approximately Euro 110 mn in 2018/19. According to the company, for the operating result a constant development is expected.
EVN: weekly performance: 2.20%

voestalpine: The German Bundeskartellamt has imposed fines totalling around Euro 646 mn on Ilsenburger Grobblech GmbH, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG and voestalpine Grobblech GmbH as well as three individuals responsible for exchanging information on and agreeing certain price supplements and surcharges for quarto plates in Germany. The illegal agreement was practised from mid-2002 until June 2016. Austrian based voestalpine AG confirmed its involvement in the stated proceedings and has consented to a settlement with the German Bundeskartellamt in which it will pay a fine of Euro 65.5 mn.
voestalpine: weekly performance: 1.86%
