21st Austria weekly - Valneva, Vienna Stock Exchange (30/12/2022)

01.01.2023

Valneva: Valneva, an Austrian/French specialty vaccine company, reported further heterologous booster data from an exploratory, small clinical study for its inactivated COVID-19 vaccine, VLA2001. The data show that a booster dose of VLA2001 was well tolerated in previously BNT162b2 (Pfizer/BioNTech)- or mRNA 1273 (Moderna)-vaccinated participants, confirming the favorable safety profile of VLA2001 seen across all studies – including in homologous or heterologous booster settings. However, in this study, an additional booster dose of VLA2001 elicited only a marginally increased neutralizing antibody response. The Company previously reported positive heterologous booster results following primary vaccination with ChAdOx1-S (AstraZeneca) in August 2022 and positive homologous booster results at the end of December 2021. In study VLA2001-307, a subset of participants (three out of nine groups) received VLA2001 following two or three doses of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, with or without break-through infection (25-50 participants per group). Valneva is currently seeking regulatory approval for VLA2001 as a homologous booster as well as heterologous booster in ChAdOx1-S (AstraZeneca) primed individuals which may support the Company in deploying its inventory in international markets.

Vienna Stock Exchange: A changing inflation and interest rate environment, the Russian attack on Ukraine and the ongoing energy crisis weighed on European stock markets in 2022. With around Euro 72 billion, trading participants on the Vienna Stock Exchange generated roughly the same turnover as in the strong previous year. The primary market was challenging. With Pierer Mobility AG and RHI Magnesita N.V., the prime market grew to 40 companies. In the SME segment, VAS AG from Salzburg made its stock market debut. In the bond segment, Vienna maintained its successful course despite difficult market conditions and thanks to new international customers. "The Vienna-Prague Stock Exchange Group was able to implement important projects in 2022 and strengthen its position as a Central European exchange operator. Thanks to the diversification of our business areas and strategic planning for the coming years, I see Wiener Börse on a good course," said Christoph Boschan, CEO of Wiener Börse AG. He believes in a promising future for equity financing: "In order to make our economy fit for the future, Europe needs innovation, which can only be financed with equity. Economies with developed capital markets grow stronger and will transform faster."
