voestalpine: The Metal Engineering Division of the Austrian steel company voestalpine Group is already a global leader in high-quality rails, high-tech turnouts, and digital monitoring systems. Now the Group is bundling these competencies under the “Railway Systems” brand, becoming a worldwide provider of complete systems for railway infrastructures. The new segment covers around 7,000 employees at 70 production and sales locations on all five continents, who together generated revenue of EUR 1.4 bn during the past business year. With the global trend towards urbanization and the expansion of public transport networks, an average annual growth of almost three percent is forecast.
OMV: Austrian oil and gas company OMV has entered into a Heads of Agreement with Sapura Energy Berhad to form a strategic partnership. The parties have agreed to continue negotiations on an exclusive basis. OMV intends to acquire a 50% interest in Sapura Energy’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Sapura Upstream Sdn Bhd. Sapura Upstream is a major independent oil and gas company based in Malaysia with a strong growth portfolio. The potential cooperation would allow OMV to enter into a partnership with a highly esteemed regional company. “The intended partnership with Sapura is a major step to develop OMV’s activities in South East Asia. The oil and gas demand in this region is expected to increase strongly until 2030 and OMV is taking the opportunity to further expand the business and build up the new core region”, said Rainer Seele, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board.
Vienna Airport: Passenger traffic at Vienna Airport continues to increase. The total number of passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in August 2018 climbed by 11.4% to 3.6 mn travellers. The accumulated passenger volume in the period January-August 2018 showed an increase of 8.4% to 22.3 mn. Vienna Airport also developed very positively, with the total number of passengers increasing by 6.8% from January to August 2018. The forecasts of more than 6% passenger growth at Vienna Airport and more than 8% for the Flughafen Wien Group could be clearly exceeded providing current trends continue.
