Austrian Post: Austrian Post AG recently completed a trial run with autonomous industrial trucks at its Vienna parcel logistics center. The first autonomous vehicles will be rolled out into regular operation next year. Peter Umundum, Deputy Director General and Board Member for Parcel & Logistics at Austrian Post AG, stated: “While parcel delivery by drones or robots is often little more than good advertising, the real leverage for efficiency gains lies in the automated transport of large volumes of shipments. At the Vienna logistics center, we demonstrated through a proof of concept that autonomous industrial trucks function effectively in everyday operations and provide meaningful relief and support to our employees in their work.”
