Plant Openings/Investment
The Semperit Group continues its growth in the Sempertrans segment with the commissioning of new production capacities at the site in Belchatów, Poland. A total of about EUR 40 million has been invested to expand production capacities. Due to strong sales activities and high demand for Sempertrans products, the new capacities are already very well utilised.
"We have established our position as a producer of high-quality conveyor belts and a solution provider with top services among demanding customers. Therefore, we can continuously gain market share even in an overall difficult economic environment. With the added capacity in Belchatów, we will continue to expand our strong position, open up new markets and push our global expansion as planned", Thomas Fahnemann, CEO of the Semperit Group, explains. Moreover, Poland offers ideal production conditions for industrial enterprises, Fahnemann adds: "The employees are highly qualified, energy costs are competitive and we are very close to important markets and key customers."
The conveyor belt market grows by roughly 3% annually, most markedly in Asia, Australia and South America. The market growth is determined by the megatrend mining and the increasing demand for energy and raw materials. In addition to mining, Sempertrans products are also used in the steel and cement industries, in power stations and in the transport industry. One of Sempertrans' strengths is its global engineering team. The conveyor belt specialists support their customers in selecting, installing and operating the best technological solution and the appropriate conveyor belt for the respective purpose of use.
Sempertrans Belchatów is the largest production facility for conveyor belts in Europe and specialises in manufacturing heavy-duty steel cord and textile conveyor belts. The R&D centre located at the site continuously develops innovations, most recently an energy-saving conveyor belt, which is used by several major customers. 100 new jobs have been created as a result of the expansion. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology, production will be even more efficient in the future.
The new production capacities were opened at a festive ceremony in Belchatów yesterday. Photos of the opening ceremony are available at https://semperitgroup.picturepark.com/Go/qYU6dzIx Sempertrans Photos are available at https://semperitgroup.picturepark.com/Go/S6HX7v7w
