21st Austria weekly - Agrana, UBM, Andritz (05/10/2020)

11.10.2020

Agrana: The fruit, starch and sugar group Agrana commences production of crystalline betaine at its Tulln site. The construction of the new betaine crystallisation plant directly next to the sugar refinery is being undertaken by Beta Pura GmbH, a joint venture between Agrana and US-based “The Amalgamated Sugar Company”. The financing of the new plant, which took 15 months to build, entailed the investment of around Euro 40 mn. Agrana has been processing the sugar beet molasses obtained during the production of sugar at its Tulln site to make liquid betaine concentrate since 2015. The new plant, with a production capacity of around 8,500 metric tons of crystalline betaine per year, makes Tulln only the third manufacturing site worldwide where natural crystalline betaine is produced.
Agrana: weekly performance: 0.97%

UBM: UBM Development is selling a further residential project in one of Vienna‘s most popular development areas, the former Northern Railway Station grounds in the Second District. Buwog is acquiring the Northern Railway Quarter project (50% UBM) nearly two years before completion for about Euro 50 mn. This represents the third UBM residential project sold to the Vonovia Group within a single year. The project covers 181 apartments close to Vienna’s dynamic city centre. “The residential asset class is the current winner, and we hold a top position here with 3,500 apartments now under development“, explains Thomas G. Winkler, CEO of UBM Development AG. The corona crisis has further intensified the demand overhang in this asset class, which has also been accompanied by the growing focus of institutional investors on residential projects in major European cities.
UBM: weekly performance: -5.16%

Andritz: International technology group Andritz has received a contract from Greenko Energy Private Limited, an independent Indian power producer, for the supply of electro-mechanical equipment for the 1,200-MW Pinnapuram pumped storage plant. Located in the Kumool district of Andhra Pradesh state in India, the hydropower plant will be part of the first integrated renewable energy storage project combining electrical energy production based on photovoltaic solar, wind, and pumped storage. Once commissioned, Pinnapuram will be the largest pumped storage scheme in India. Commissioning of the first units is expected by 2023. The contract includes design, manufacture, supply, transportation, erection, testing, and commissioning of four 240-MW units, two 120-MW reversible pump units, main inlet valves, and associated auxiliaries.
Andritz: weekly performance: 11.03%
