21st Austria weekly - Andritz; Lenzing, OMV, FACC (04/05/2022)

08.05.2022

Andritz: International technology group Andritz has received an order from Stora Enso to rebuild bleach plant no. 4 at its Skutskär Mill in Sweden. Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. The investment in new bleaching technology will increase the capacity of the mill and support Stora Enso’s ambitious climate targets. In addition, it will improve operational performance, enhance the overall efficiency of mill maintenance and thus reduce the site’s carbon footprint.
Andritz: weekly performance: -4.81%

Lenzing: In the first quarter of 2022, fibers producer Lenzing Group, like the entire manufacturing industry, was significantly affected by the extreme developments in global energy and commodity markets. A predominantly positive market environment and the strategic focus on specialty fibers such as those of the TENCEL™, LENZING™ ECOVERO™ and VEOCEL™ brands nevertheless ensured a solid revenue and earnings trend. Revenue grew by 25.7 percent year-on-year to reach Euro 615 mn in the first quarter of 2022, primarily due to continued high demand for wood-based biodegradable specialty fibers and higher fiber prices. Specialty fibers’ share of fiber revenue currently stands at 73.3 percent. The earnings trend reflects trends in energy, raw materials and logistics costs, although the company’s continued focus on measures to improve structural earnings in all regions mitigated this negative effect. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) decreased by 7 percent year-on-year to Euro 88 mn. Net profit for the quarter grew by 14.3 percent to Euro 34.1 mn. Lenzing Group continues to anticipate that EBITDA for the full 2022 year will lie significantly above the level of 2021.
Lenzing: weekly performance: -5.96%

OMV: Austrian based gas, oil and chemicals group OMV and Associated Energy Group, LLC (AEG Fuels) are working together to distribute regional Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) produced by OMV in Austria. The two companies have agreed to market an on-demand quantity of SAF in 2022, allowing end users, mainly from the general aviation segment, to access the product as an alternative to conventional jet fuel at Vienna International Airport. The sustainable fuel is produced at the OMV Schwechat Refinery by co-processing regional used cooking oil provided by Austrian based collector Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH in the fuel production process.
OMV: weekly performance: -0.63%

FACC: Aerospace supplier FACC AG closed the first quarter of 2022 as planned with a 7.9% increase in sales to 127.5 mn Euro. The reason for this positive development is the favorable order situation for short- and medium-haul aircraft as well as orders in the business jet segment. EBIT is positive at + 3 mn, which is also due to the measures to reduce costs and increase efficiency that have already taken effect. Following the successful operational turnaround in 2021, FACC will again focus on growth in 2022. A growth in sales of approx. 10% is expected for the 2022 financial year, while the planned EBIT is projected to more than triple compared to the operating results in 2021 (excluding one-off effects).
FACC: weekly performance: -2.65%

Valneva: Valneva, a specialty vaccine company, today announced the initiation of a heterologous booster trial of its inactivated whole-virus COVID-19 vaccine candidate VLA2001. The VLA2001-307 trial will be the Company’s first clinical trial to provide booster data following primary vaccination with an mRNA vaccine or natural COVID-19 infection. Data, if positive, could support potential use as heterologous booster, subject to applicable regulatory recommendations and approvals.
Valneva: weekly performance: -2.06%
