Trimmed: Lufthansa The position in Lufthansa was significantly reduced. In a portfolio optimized for long-term compounding and a baseline >10% annualized return, airlines represent a severe opportunity cost. The industry is highly capital-intensive, deeply cyclical, and inherently lacks platform economics or structural moats. With peak post-pandemic travel pricing normalizing and European operating costs remaining high, the probability of achieving outsized long-term returns here is exceptionally low. This was essentially dead capital, and it has been harvested. Added: Constellation Software The proceeds from the Lufthansa trim were immediately deployed to increase the weighting in Constellation Software. The current market narrative is aggressively skewed toward hyperbolic AI hardware and power infrastructure, accompanied by a broad consensus that "software is dead" due to AI disruption and slowing enterprise seat growth. So, why scale a software holding right now? The answer lies in Constellation’s unique business model. Constellation is not a conventional, highly valued SaaS company reliant on massive top-line growth and multiple expansion. It is a decentralized capital allocation machine. It acquires hyper-niche, mission-critical Vertical Market Software (VMS) companies that run the essential daily operations of specific industries. These underlying businesses exhibit near-zero churn, high switching costs, and immediate free cash flow generation. Crucially, the current negative sentiment toward the software sector is actually a massive structural advantage for Constellation. If broader software multiples compress and private tech funding dries up, Constellation's M&A flywheel accelerates. They are able to deploy their massive free cash flow to acquire smaller targets at even lower multiples, driving their Return on Invested Capital (ROIC) higher. While the broader market chases the peak of the AI hardware cycle, scaling Constellation secures highly visible, incredibly durable compounding that thrives regardless of the macroeconomic hype.
